Who is Toschlog Photograhy?
My name is Jerry Toschlog. I was born and raised and have lived in Wayne county my entire life. I have had an interest in photography since I was a young boy. I recall at the age of 13 I enjoyed photographing stars and planets. One winter morning I was rushing to photograph a comet as the school bus was coming down the road. I waited until the bus was one stop from me and grabbed the camera and tripod and ran them into the house, only to realize I had failed to remove the lens cap when I took the photograph, and I had no time left to do it again. The camera was not an SLR so you could not tell if the cap was on when you looked through the lens, but again I was only 13. My father always had a camera and I thought it was cool, so I think that was my attraction to photography. Fast forward to 1989 and I found myself taking photography very seriously. I did my first wedding and mixed that with youth sports and other aspects of photography. Then in 1999, I was finally able to open Toschlog Photography Studio and from there things just grew to where I am today. An interesting fact is that after I opened my studio, I found out that my grandfather, John Penland, had owned and operated Penland Photography in Fountain City, Indiana, long before I was born.
Enough history about me, I just want to say that I truly love what I do. I enjoy the people I meet. I find myself laughing and enjoying my clients, as the day just seems to pass in a flash. Many of my clients now seem more like long-time friends, and I can only wonder what new “friends” I will make tomorrow.
